Guillaume Bérard is adviser at the Belgian Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA). He holds a Master in Law (from the Université Catholique de Louvain) and a Master in International Law (from the Université Libre de Bruxelles). Guillaume joined the FSMA in 1998 and is currently in charge, within the FSMA's Policy Department, of conduct of business rules in the financial sector, covering both MiFID and IDD (Insurance Distribution Directive). He represents the FSMA in several European Committees active in this field, including ESMA's Investor Protection and Intermediaries Standing Committee (IPISC) and ESMA'S Financial Innovation Standing Committee (FISC) as well as in the Joint Committee Sub-Committee on Consumer Protection and Financial Innovation. Guillaume has chaired several task forces at European level related, amongst other to inducements or product governance for structured retail products. He regularly intervenes as speaker on supervisory and regulatory issues at conferences, seminars and workshops.
